The Claustre de Figures inaugurates 'Mateu' by Joan Mateu

On September 22 from 8:00 p.m., the new temporary exhibition of Joan Mateu Mateu opens at the El Claustre de Figueres Art Gallery, 25 Carrer de la Rambla.

This exhibition by Mateu, focused on Cap de Creus landscapes, shows us his vision of these wonderful landscapes as well as those of the Costa Brava, in short, of the sea. The visitor will be able to notice how Mateu treats this same subject with different techniques and styles, always looking for the essence of the elements. Some of the outstanding works of the exhibition are the Yearning for the Sea (at dawn); Calm Tense, Isolated or Overseas.

The presentation of the event will be carried out by the screenwriter and film director, David Pujol, who is the author of the film Esperant a Dalí and the author of several documentaries about the restaurant "El Bulli" and the artist " Salvador Dalí", and great connoisseur of the natural area of Cap de Creus.

It should also be noted that a special catalog has been published that can be consulted and downloaded on the cloister's website: www.elclaustre.com. Afterwards, a painting raffle will be held among the members of the Art Fund and those attending the inauguration. The exhibition can be visited until October 7, 2023.
