Reus resumes the commemorative events of the Aragonese Morató Centenary and does so with two complementary exhibitions that open on September 8 itself. The kaleidoscopic light of Morató Aragonès 1974-2006, at the Anquin's gallery, allows us to rediscover the artist's second maturity, the one that fixed the Morató Aragonès style in the collective imagination. An unmistakable stamp in which the chromatic luminosity was always highlighted, built with a treatment of the matter and a pictorial technique that brought it closer to the work of goldsmiths, with infinite and unsuspected facets.
The works, both small and large format and which can be acquired, are almost unpublished, since they had been closed in the private sphere. Coastal landscapes, mountains and inland towns, figures and cafes make up this vast Moratonian universe of splendid fullness. The exhibition is accompanied by a series of documents and photographs from the Morató Aragonès Archive that visually frame these creative periods and is also a tribute to one of the gallery's historical painters, who has regularly exhibited there since 1974 and where in 2006 he held his last exhibition.
The works exhibited at the Anquins gallery come from private collections and have been selected jointly by the gallery and by Maria Elena Morató, daughter of the artist and curator of this exhibition and of the Morató Aragonès Centenary. After a two-year search, it has been possible to gather works of excellent quality and representative of the stage that the painter exhibited in the gallery (1974-2006), so that collectors and also the public who approaches for the first time one of the most prominent Reus painters of the second half of the 20th century, can access and buy one of his creations.
