On August 17 at 12 noon, the 55th edition of the Catalan Summer University 2023 (UCE) was inaugurated as normal, after three years of "interim" with editions reduced by Covid. The UCE this year will take place at the historic Liceu Renovier in Prada de Conflent (France) and it is planned to bring back all the regular students who could not attend in recent years due to the problem of the pandemic. The person in charge of inaugurating the event was the president of ERC, Oriol Junqueras (Autonomous University of Barcelona), with the inaugural lecture entitled "The Exile of Presidents Lluís Companys, Josep Irla and Josep Tarradellas". The Minister of Health of the Generalitat, Manel Balcells, and the Batlle de Prada de Conflent, Yves Delcor, also attended the event. Also present were Teresa Cabré (president of the Catalan Studies Institute), Joan Becat (president of the UCE Association, Northern Catalonia) and Joan Domènec Ros (president of the UCE Foundation). The UCE will last until August 23, and the closure will be in charge of the Councilor of the Presidency of the Generalitat, Laura Vilagrà, and the Canigó award will also be presented to Josefina Salord.
