16th Art Route of Castelló d'Empúries

From the 12th to the 15th of October, the traditional Ruta de l'Art de Castelló d'Empúries is celebrated this year with the main objective of promoting art and cultural tourism.

According to its director and organizer of the event, Anna Constanseu" after sixteen years of promoting art, we can already say that we are opening new stages, we have been pioneers in the promotion of cultural tourism during the months when demand declines, and I think that at this time you can receive and attend to a calmer and higher quality tourism, which savors everything that is around it" and points out that "our continuous demand has led us to have, year after year, artists of more reputation and more grateful to have a space to exhibit with all the facilities and no additional costs, except for the accommodation and the material to be exhibited, unique characteristics today."

As a novelty for this edition, the organization has taken advantage of the phenomenon of social networks in order to give visibility to all the artists who participate in the Route during the four days. Another novelty is the constitution of the new municipal council team, of which Constanseu states that "we are sure they will give us the necessary support to promote art and tourism in this unique framework of the Vila Comtal de Castelló d'Empúries. "

The work entitled Nadie, by Esther Martínez, is the image of this year's poster that serves to promote the Ruta de l'Art de Castelló d'Empúries 2023. This work is part of the heroines project - women and their lack of freedom in the world. The piece, which is loaded with force, wants to emphasize the fact of oppression in all senses of women through the three symbols: forbidden to listen, forbidden to speak and forbidden to see.

The organizers of the Art Route this year want to show solidarity with this message and have announced that they also want to join the fight for freedom of expression and spread the message of freedom for women and all of humanity. On the other hand, a raffle will be held for a work by Esther Martínez through tickets that can be purchased for a price of 2 euros at different establishments in Castelló d'Empúries.

It should be remembered that in the previous edition of the Art Route a total of 132 national and international artists participated with the addition of students from the Artistic Baccalaureate of the Josep Brugulat Institute in Banyoles, as well as from the Faculty of Fine Arts Arts from the University of Barcelona. The hours of the Art Route are on Friday, Saturday open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
