bonart barcelona - 25/07/23

The KBr Fundación Mapfre photography center will premiere, from September 29, in Space 1, the exhibition William Eggleston, considered one of the pioneers of color photography, since he achieved his recognition as an admissible artistic expression in art galleries and museums in the 1970s. In Madrid, in the Recoletos room, the autumn program begins on September 22 with three Medardo Rosso shows. Pioneer of modern sculpture, The Summers of Sorolla and Mathieu Pernot. Document-monument.

Influenced by the "decisive instant" of Henri Cartier-Bresson, by Robert Frank and Eugène Atget, and after his initial black and white works around the suburbs of Memphis, Eggleston began to photograph everything that the surrounded with clear artistic intent and color: old shoes, freezers with food, the interior of a bathroom, a woman's legs, a road sign, an old truck, a tree, etc., in one work in which the true reason seems to be none other than life itself.

The exhibition, curated by Felix Hoffmann, is organized by the C/O Berlin Foundation in collaboration with Eggleston Artistic Trust and Fundació Mapfre, Barcelona.

KBr Flame

On the other hand, Espai 2 will host the third edition of KBr Flama, an annual project to support young talent. The exhibition brings together the projects of Alan Balzac (Galicia, 1989), Ivette Blaya (Santa Margarida de Montbui, Barcelona, 2000), Rocío Madrid (Melilla, 1988) and Lucía Morón (Buenos Aires), who started their professional career after having trained at the IEFC, Idep Barcelona, Elisava – Barcelona Faculty of Design and Engineering, and Grisart schools, respectively.

Their works were selected among those of other students from the aforementioned schools by a jury made up of Mónica Allende (artistic director of the GetxoPhoto Festival, Bilbao), David Armengol (director of La Capella, Barcelona), Irene de Mendoza (artistic director from the Foto Colectania Foundation, Barcelona) and Anna Planas (artistic director of Paris Photo).
