Salvador Dalí explained: "Time is one of the few important things we have left", and as the Catalan artist commented we must enjoy the present but we must also look to the future, even if it is reüll, and here, at this point, we make a stop, since Andorra will show all its cultural and artistic power with two festivals that will be the epicenter of the Principality: Andorra Crea and L'AndArt23, with another edition of Ordino Jardins of Art in 2024.
Artistic expression as an element of reflection, shaping spaces and establishing dialogues connecting with the cultural coexistence of Andorra. After the summer, these two important cultural milestones will begin, with the novelty of Andorra Crea, which takes over from La Cultura No s'Atura, through the impetus of the Andorran government and the seven communes; the aim is to promote national contemporary creation and from this point bring it closer to the public, together with the recruitment of artistic proposals to provide institutional support to the sector.
Andorra Crea will be held from September 29 to October 1 with activities in all the parishes. This new initiative in the Principality will be open to all cultural disciplines and will only be for new and recent creations; the aim is for it to function as a promotional tool for the creations of Andorran artists and a possible international springboard.
A few days earlier, on September 15, the fifth edition of L'AndArt, Andorra's international biennial, will arrive, which will last for two months, with works in the urban center of Sant Julià de Lòria. One of the great novelties of this unrestricted edition will be the fact of finding as a museum space an old tobacco factory, currently abandoned but restored for the occasion. Along with this location, the other great novelty is to see the well-known Andorran festival with this new autumn chronological framework.
Pere Moles and Albert Gusi will select the artists of this fifth edition; two years ago there were, among others, works by Andorrans such as Dani Torres, Tito Farré, present at the previous four, or Kala. This time there is a clear intention to open the range of creations, of visual thoughts, seeking to create a binomial between the works and the environment that surrounds them, with a critical attitude through art and our function on the planet and in the mountain territories.
The world of art takes us to an active world, which analyzes, searches and interprets, where L'AndArt, which was born in 2015 and which has evolved and adapted to new spaces and expectations, offers an artistic panorama stimulating, reflective, involved and evolutionary, having more than forty artists from all over the world developing a work between art and nature. This time the motto will be The mountain in circulation, with the idea that art is part of a process of collective reflection on the great challenges facing today's society, where the environment of sustainability is key in the environmental field and the promotion of the circular economy, since art adapts to different locations, takes advantage of spaces and invites awareness about the environment.
In addition, this fifth edition will be accompanied by the participation of San Marino as a guest country, with emerging artists from this small nation. The CATSA factory will be filled with his works to create a dialectical link between Andorra and San Marino, in an edition where the Principality wants to return to the Venice Biennale and L'AndArt will be the great showcase of artists to show all their works and all their quality to professionals in the sector such as curators, critics and journalists. This biennial contributes to highlight Andorra as a country sensitive to the environment, along with the firm commitment to the artistic trend, new artistic proposals, to give the opportunity to discover new contemporary languages, to seek the interest of the public and learning, all placing Sant Julià de Lòria as a neuralgic epicenter. It is also about promoting local artists and the international scene.
In short, one of the main objectives, which can be extended to the three formats mentioned, is to work for a culture committed to the environment and its people. Already thinking about 2024, it will be time for a new edition of Ordino Jardins d'Art, with the important International Contemporary Art Award; it is expected that it can be carried out during a weekend in September next year. The creations will fill the gardens and squares of Ordino, and the presence of the artist, selected from between sixteen and twenty proposals, is mandatory. Along with this framework linked to the award, there is the guest artist; remember that in 2022 it was Manuel Luna. It is a consolidated proposal, with an exchange between the artist and the public, in which different artistic proposals are found and synergies are created between all the subjects.
