Ramon Masats and Manuel Outomuro, protagonists of the Revela't festival
bonart vilassar de dalt - 05/06/23

The eleventh edition of Revela't de Vilassar de Dalt (Maresme) is marked by Ramon Masats, who will receive the silver badge, will star in the Visit Spain exhibition and will center a round table between his daughter, Sonia Masats, and the curator Call Cones. The festival, which will be held from 3 to 18 June, will also feature this year the renowned Spanish fashion photographer Manuel Outomuro and the unprecedented exhibition Orography of the road. The North Americans Barbara Bosworth and Mike Brodie, known as Polaroid Kidd will be the other prominent names of this edition, which premieres conferences with free access. The festival will display twenty analog photography exhibitions and a Main Weekend with professional and family activities.

The strong weekend of the festival will be from June 9 to 11, a Main Weekend that will bring together multiple conferences with a renewed format, since the organization is betting this year on more dynamic conversations between the curators and the disseminators of the different works .

During the weekend you can also visit the Market, with twenty stands of brands, manufacturers and sellers of photographic material. The fair will have an area dedicated to photo books, with the participation of 16 publishers, self-publishers and sellers. Finally, there will be an area dedicated to sellers of fully analogue personal photography and "handmade" products.

In addition to conferences and stands, Revela't proposes several workshops to bring analogue photography closer to all audiences. In this sense, there are planned activities on photographic transfer, cyanotype, collage and screen printing. All are free. Workshops for professionals are also planned, with Jota Barros and the Italian experimental group Branco Ottico.

In parallel to the Main Weekend, the 2023 Creation and Experimentation Residency will be held from June 4 to 11, for which 149 authors from 36 countries have presented themselves. The residency selects eight artists each year and aims to promote cultural and artistic exchange between the participants, as well as develop a collective project that will be exhibited during the next edition.

It is also planned to hold the traditional Portfolio Viewing, so that the selected photographers can network professionally, face their projects and give them an outlet. 114 authors from 26 countries appeared in the call.

As for the exhibitions, the most outstanding this year are Visit Spain by Ramon Masats, an exhibition that portrays Spanish society during the opening of the Franco regime; the unpublished exhibition Orography of the road by Manuel Outumuro, where he will show his creative and technical process; A Period Of Juvenile Prosperity by Mike Brodie, with images portraying the culture of train-hopping that he himself practices; Icons' by the duo Cortis & Sonderegger; and One Star and a Dark Voyage¡, a tale of loss and the journey home, by large-format photographer Barbara Bosworth.

The direction also highlights 100 BOOTS by performer Eleanor Antin, and Jim Goldberg's unique piece Darrell & Patricia: A Love Story, conceived as an exploration of the complex and intimate relationship between a transgender couple over 30 years of marriage and a simultaneous transition

During the weekends that the festival lasts, the exhibitions can be visited for free or with guided tours by different authors and professionals in analog photography. In addition, musical vermouths have been scheduled at the Cal Garbat Factory with the intention of promoting networking between festival attendees from different parts of the world.
