Since this past May 18, the artist Laura Llaneli (Granada, 1986) inaugurates the sound installation Mevaveu, which affects the use of the voice as an identity beyond the bodies associated with it. This exhibition, which is the result of a research process related to sound, voice, language and gender identities, can be visited in Room B of the Liberal Arts Center of the Brossa Foundation until June 25 this year.
Mevaveu investigates the relationship established between voice and identity, in the role that voice plays in defining us. But what happens when a person does not feel identified with their voice or when they are not satisfied with what their voice says about them? The installation analyzes the relationship that people establish with their voice and asks if we can get rid of the specific identity that it represents. The installation consists of eight loudspeakers that show the voice of various people who at some point have felt discord between their voice and their gender in different individual and collective situations as a sound composition. By not showing images of the participants or revealing their gender identities, the sample avoids a binary assignment of voices.
Post-junk, support for creation and production
Mevaveu is one of the three winning projects of the PostBrossa 2022-2023 open call, together with Coses que fan crack, by Pere Llobera, and Grafia animada para apres deluvi, by Laura Ginès. Each project is an installation that starts from a metaphorical game as a basis of creation and gives importance to action/activation.
PostBrossa 2022-2023 is the third edition of the grant from the Liberal Arts Center of the Joan Brossa Foundation intended for the production and exhibition of three artistic installations during the 2022-2023 season. On April 17, the institution open the fourth edition of the open call for artistic installations. Artists interested in participating can submit their candidacy until June 22. In this way, the space renews its commitment to promote contemporary creation by providing real support to creation and, at the same time, offering an exhibition space to the winning proposals.

Over the last few years, she has combined her activity in several musical projects with transfeminist activism.
