On May 9 at 7:00 p.m., the temporary exhibition of Mataró artist Josep Maria Codina i Filbà (Mataró, 1958) entitled Segments, Personal Memory Cycle was inaugurated at the Valvi Foundation in Girona.
The presentation will be given by Maria Lluïsa Faxedas. This exhibition of personal memories shows Codina's works from 2010 to the most recent ones from 2023, which allow the viewer to appreciate the artist's consistent and innovative career. The series titled "Aire" should be highlighted, which are paintings made with mixed media on oriental paper or the triptych Descent, made with mixed media on canvas. Reference should also be made to his "Genesis" series, which are acrylics and graphite on canvas in red and very vivid colors or the Thalassa series, which are acrylics and graphite on canvas.
Josep M Codina (Mataró, 1958) is an artist with a long career (he had his first solo exhibition in 1985 in his hometown) who, although for a long time he has combined artistic practice with teaching and design graphic, has exhibited regularly in galleries and art centers around the country. Codina trained at the Pau Gargallo School of Applied Arts in Badalona and then at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona, and his artistic career was marked by the mastery of the Matarón artists Arenas and Novellas. Codina has shown a wide selection of his recent painting at the Tinglado 1 space, in Tarragona.
His work has also been present in private collections and in several public institutions such as the Carmen i Lluís Bassat Foundation, the Vila Casas Foundation, the Contemporary Art Museum of Tarragona, the Testimony Collection of the La Caixa Foundation, etc. . This exhibition can be visited until June 23, 2023 from Monday to Saturday from 17:30 to 20:00 in the evening. On Saturday mornings the Foundation will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
