April 20 marks five years since the opening to the public of Mas Miró, the house and workshop that Joan Miró had in Mont-roig. A place that had stood still in time since the artist's last stay, in 1976. Five years ago, the doors of the Masia were opened as the starting point of a project conceived in phases, which then only it provided for guided tours, but was born with a desire to grow the activities of the space. Now, five years later, the Mas Miró project is fully consolidated, as evidenced by its recent inclusion in the museum register of the Generalitat de Catalunya as well as its nomination as the best European museum of the year in 2022, among others cultural milestones achieved during this time.
With a wide range of activities, and despite the difficulties arising from the pandemic, Mas Miró stands out for its socio-cultural work in Camp de Tarragona, and is positioned as a reference facility on the cultural tourism map of the Costa Daurada.
A popular and festive day
To celebrate the consolidation of its project after these intense five years, the Mas Miró Foundation has organized a free festive day that will take place on Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The artists who will perform there, representatives of part of the cultural fabric of the town of Mont-roig, will offer a theatrical dynamism, tell stories for the little ones, and traditional music concerts. There will also be a popular lunch to enliven the day. Joan Punyet Miró, grandson of the artist, will attend the celebration, as he did at the inauguration five years ago.
