On April 11 at 18:30 in the afternoon, the artists who are part of the Talent Girona section, which showcases the musical talent of Girona's regions, were presented at the Fundació Valvi de Girona. This event was attended by Eduard Vidal, patron of the Valvi Foundation, Xavi Pascual, director of the Strenes Festival and the selected artists of the edition: Doble & Hugsound, Sara Terraza, B1N0 and Malson Atmosfèric.
Talent Gironí is the section of the Strenes Festival that values the musical talent of the Girona regions. A section sponsored by the Valvi Foundation, an organization that has collaborated with the festival since the first year to support the young musical values of the Girona regions.
One of the characteristics of this section is that the most outstanding group or artist of the Strenes edition is awarded, who receives the Talent Gironí award. This section takes into account the musical proposal and how it is performed, the staging, the originality of the proposal, the musical quality and the possible route that the proposal may take in the world of music.
The proposals selected at Strenes 2023 were: B1N0, Sara Terraza, Doble & Hugsound and Malson Atmosfèric. On the one hand, the B1N0 group released their first self-titled album in 2019, with which they immediately placed themselves at the epicenter of the Catalan electronic scene. Now, the duo formed by Emili Bosch and Malcus Codolà publishes the EP bi, which is a continuation of the aesthetic and universe that began to evolve in their first album entitled: beats.
The only female artist selected this year was Sara Terraza, who is a singer-songwriter who debuted as a solo singer at the age of seventeen on TV3's "Oh Happy Day" program in 2013, and then began her professional career. After a few years of stepping on some stages of the Catalan territory, she creates the Sara Terraza & The Black Sheep project. This year he published his first solo album entitled "Ja ploraré apres" (Satélite K), produced by Dani López.
For its part, Malson Atmosfèric is an organic urban music group that offers concerts that combine pop, reggae, reggaeton and rap. The band is led by the rapper Manel Vizcaíno, who is accompanied by four other live musicians. Currently, they are working on their debut album, from which "La ciutat" and "Una d'Estrella Damm" have been presented, with lyrics that claim youth, critical spirit and social nonconformity.
Finally Doble & Hugsound is an artistic couple that navigates between styles such as pop, rap, dancehall, black music, funk or disco. This duo has been working together for years and has released multiple works that add up to millions of streams on digital platforms including their 2019 debut album Livin' the Hug Life, the 2021 EP Maybe and their sophomore album " Slow life", published a few months ago.
Valvi Foundation: supporting young musicians for nineteen years
The Valvi Foundation has been a cultural space with open doors in the city of Girona for nineteen years. It supports and disseminates all artistic disciplines: painting, sculpture, installations, video art, poetry, and music created in our territory. One of its objectives is to serve as a platform for young musicians of all styles collaborating with the festivals: Estiu&Jazz, Girona-Costa Brava Guitar Festival and Inund'Art Festival (performance and dance). At the moment, in addition to sponsoring the Strenes Festival, it also sponsors a series of Concerts by Young Virtuoso Pianists trained at the ESMUC and the Liceu.
