Sustainability will mark the 11th edition of the International Art Day in Girona

The eleventh edition of the International Day of Art in the Girona regions will revolve around sustainability in an edition in which there will be thirty activities between April 14 and 16. In addition, for the first time there will be events spread across the demarcation and a first regional day on contemporary artistic practices in the demarcation. This year this day will be held in Sant Hilari Sacalm (Selva) and the aim is to share knowledge, tools and cultural practices that are carried out in the regions of Girona. Experts in this subject will participate in this day, as well as several artists from Girona who will share their experiences.

Sant Hilari Sacalm will be the seat of the first Territorial Day of Contemporary Artistic Practices of the Girona counties which is organized as part of the 11th edition of the International Day of Art. Sustainability will be the focus of this day with the intention of sharing experiences and tools to contribute to a more sustainable future.

In these days, which will be held on Friday from ten in the morning until half past seven in the afternoon, we want to create alliances between artists to show the richness of Girona's art through a topic of interest that allow sharing of ideas. With this, both the host municipality and the guiding thread will change every year to distribute the days throughout the Girona territory.

During the first day that will take place in Sant Hilari Sacalm, there will be expert figures in the field of sustainability such as commissioner Blanca de la Torre, projects such as the Cerezales Foundation or the Forest Chair of the University of Girona (UdG) and the NGO Sèlvans.

In addition, the artists Ivó Vinuesa, Edgar Massegú, Agostina Laurenzano and Ona Trepat will explain some of their experiences related to art and sustainability. The conference has also included the Seismógraf d'Olot festival, one of the benchmarks in the dissemination of art, the movement linked to the landscape.

As for the rest of the programme, which extends to different points of the demarcation, the celebration includes art itineraries, open days, conferences, guided tours, exhibitions, workshops, screenings, children's activities or performances, all of them free and suitable for all audiences.

For 11 years, around fifty art-related entities in the province of Girona have been celebrating the anniversary on these dates of the year through an extensive agenda of activities throughout the territory. In the case of the days, they are organized, coordinated and produced by the Girona City Council, through the Bòlit, Center for Contemporary Art. Girona, and the Provincial Council of Girona, through the Casa de Cultura de Girona, and count on the collaboration of the Eccèntrica – Aula Taller d'Art and the Sant Hilari Sacalm Town Hall.
