Until Monday, April 3, you can visit the installation of the Austrian artist Suse Benedict Stoisser Pink Cloud. Unfathomable Mysteries in the church of Sant Llorenç de Bescanó.
From March 27, you can visit the installation and guided tours will also be carried out for all those who wish.
Stoisser's installation can be interpreted in several ways: on the one hand, the artist offers us to see the world through his rose-colored glass glasses, and on the other hand, it can also make us think as a metaphor of the so-called Cloud, the data storage system, which she considers "a very useful tool, but at the same time it can bring us new risks and threats". According to Stoisser "other people, on the other hand, simply relate it to the clouds that cover the sky, cover the sun and discharge the rain.".
With this exhibition in the church of Sant Llorenç, the artist creates an atmosphere "that wants to encourage visitors to contemplate not only the work but to contemplate themselves", points out Suse.
We can also appreciate the ambivalence of Stoisser's work, as it can be interpreted in various ways depending on the viewer.
At the beginning of the exhibition we can appreciate in the baptismal exedra of the church a piece inspired by the baptismal font and water, which can make us think about the changes and transformations that can occur in our lives .
While in the main nave you can appreciate a series of vertical panels made of paper that look like curtains, with paintings showing carved stones. According to the artist "normally in the church we usually find curtains, which sometimes serve only as a decorative element, and which do not want to cover anything. In Stoisser's curtains from the Wall of Illusions series, the wall can interpret -is like an obstacle, a challenge or a mystery in our life. Something that wants to capture our attention beyond what it really hides, or what we could look behind it."
On the right side of the church you can also visit the installation entitled Mary and Jesus, in which the artist moves two statues from their pedestals and establishes a kind of dialogue between mother and child. Within this narrative framework, invented and temporary, it is partially covered with strips of manipulated and translucent methacrylate, so that it does not allow us to have a clear but distorted view of what is behind this transparent "curtain", the edges of the which are reproduced.
Shoes of different colors that would come to symbolize the "empathic" part of this relationship between mother and child.
In the center of the altar is placed a small stone titled Social media/me too, on which a hashtag is reproduced made with a material with a reflective surface that acts as a mirror.
It should be remembered that this exhibition was inaugurated on March 26 on the occasion of the second edition of the Mostra d'Art Contemporani i Emergent de Bescanó 2023, in which a total of 25 art artists from all over Catalonia participated .
The exhibition was organized by the Bescanó City Council, Bonart Cultural and the Inknova company from Cellera de Ter. The curator of the exhibition was Alexandra Planas i Camps, cultural manager and collaborator of Bonart magazine.
