INSPAI opens the call for the Young Photographers of Catalonia Award

INSPAI, Image Centre, attached to the Area of Culture, New Technologies, Sports and Education of the Diputació de Girona, has announced the twenty-first edition of the Young Photographers of Catalonia Award, which has as an objective to promote and spread the photographic work of young photographers from the territorial area of Catalonia by choosing a project.

The selected exhibition proposal will be presented at the Casa de Cultura de Girona and will then become part of the program of itinerant exhibitions of the Diputació de Girona, so that it can be seen in different municipalities of the demarcation. In addition, the exhibition will also be at the Off de Perpignan, FineArt d'Igualada, Imaginària de Castelló de la Plana and Mirades de Torroella de Montgrí festivals, among others.

The project began in 2001. Since then, the following have been the protagonists of these exhibitions: Quim Giró, Javier Marroquín, Maria del Mar Ribot, Rafael Bosch, Eloi Bautista, Martí Artalejo, Pere de Prada, Tonyi Mateos, Elisabet Serra , Joel López, Alicia Rius, Yurian Quintanas (photographer awarded with the prestigious SFR Young Talent Paris Photo Contest Award in the 2014 edition), Carles Palacio, Marina Calahorra, Daniel Casanovas, Martí Albesa, Oriol Roura and Isaac flowers The last project to win the Young Photographers Award was Paredadors i pedrers, in danger of extinction. Menorca, a landscape of dry stone, a cultural heritage, by Anna Lofi (López Figueras), who continues her journey with success and is just now traveling through different festivals.

The call is open to natural persons aged between eighteen and thirty, born and/or registered in a municipality in Catalonia. Participation is free and no person who has been awarded in past editions can enter. Projects more than three years old or projects presented in previous editions will not be accepted. The Provincial Council will choose a photographic project from among all those submitted, which will be provided with the necessary resources for it to be exhibited, for a catalog to be published and for the exhibition to travel. The chosen project will be awarded with 1,250 euros gross (subject to withholding tax on the income of natural persons in force at the time of payment of the prize).

Each participant can submit a single photographic project, which cannot have been awarded in any other award, competition, contest or similar call, nor selected or nominated when this selection or nomination has resulted or may result in a public exhibition, an edition in a catalog or public communication by any means.

The documentation can be submitted through a generic instance, from March 1 to April 7, 2023, both inclusive, online, through the electronic channels provided on the website of the Diputació de Girona, or in person , in the General Registry of the Provincial Government of Girona. An evaluation committee made up of representatives of the Diputació de Girona and specialists and professionals from the world of photography, arts and culture will be in charge of choosing the photographic project. The decision on the call will be made public from the first half of June 2023.
