ARCOmadrid 2023, which celebrates its 42nd edition from February 22 to 26, strengthens its desire to continue researching past, present and future artistic practices. The confidence and commitment of the sector in the Fair has been reflected in the interest to participate in the next call, which has boosted the incorporation of new international galleries that confirm the role of ARCO as a pre-eminent place of visibility for the artists, the active market and knowledge around art. A total of 211 galleries from 36 countries will turn Madrid into the international capital of contemporary art, with the Mediterranean region as the central topic of analysis.

The General Program, made up of galleries selected by the Organizing Committee, has around thirty international galleries participating for the first time, or returning after many years, such as Capitain Petzel, Contemporary Fine Arts, David Zwirner, Mendes Wood DM, Nicolai Wallner, Rüdiger Schöttle, or Timothy Taylor. While galleries such as Mehdi Chouakri, Neugerriemschneider, Perrotin, Ruth Benzacar or Société once again place their trust in ARCOmadrid. These are joined by the loyalty of Chantal Crousel, Giorgio Persano, Jocelyn Wolff, Krinzinger, Lelong, Mai 36, Meyer Riegger, Nächst St. Stephan Rosemarie Schwarzwälder, Peter Kilchmann or Thaddaeus Ropac , among others.

ARCOmadrid incorporates as its research theme this year The Mediterranean: A Round Sea, which curated by Marina Fokidis, with the advice of Bouchra Khalili, Hila Peleg and Pedro G. Romero, aims to mobilize the relationships that flow from bottom to top and side by side an effort to reach a meeting point for the shared intensities of this geographical area. The presence of 19 galleries from 12 countries, in a space specially designed by Andrés Jacques Office for Political Innovation, will allow to delve deeper into the works of artists such as Anna Boghiguian –KOW–, Iman Iss a–Rodeo–, Jumana Manna –Hollybush Gardens–, Mohammad Bourouissa –Mennour–, Stefania Strouza –A.Antonopoulou.Art–, Hana Miletić –Lambda Lambda Lambda–, Nilbar Güres –Martin Janda–, Maria Lai –M77 Gallery– or Assumption Molins Gros –Travesía Cuatro-.

Opening by Allianz stands out for taking the pulse of the international scene of young gallerism, bringing together a rich selection, made by the curators Julia Morandeira Arrizabalaga and Yina Jiménez Suriel, of 17 proposals presented by galleries from Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Marseille, Munich, Amsterdam, Cluj-Napoca, Bogota or Lima, among other cities. In total, this section will welcome the work of 24 artists of very varied origin and journey, language and gesture, such as Sands JHD -, Augusta Lardy -Belmonte-, Maria Appleton Focus, Maria Abaddon and Xavier Coronel -Ginsberg-.

The Never the Same section. Latin American Art continues to investigate the diversity of forms, practices and artistic sensibilities from Latin America. Curated by Mariano Mayer and Manuela Moscoso, it will be made up of a selection of artists from Latin America with a total of 11 galleries such as Jaqueline Martins – Hudinilson Jr. and Lia D Castro–, Max Mayer –Nicolás Guagnini–, Karen Huber –Ana Segovia–, Crisi –Aileen Gavonel and Javier Bravo de Rueda–, Proyectos Ultravioleta –Jessica Kairé– and Hache –Florència Böhtlingk–.

Added to this are the 20 Artist Projects, presented by 22 galleries, including Jan Zöller –Ehrhardt Flórez and Meyer Riegger–; Pae White – Elvira González and Neugerriemshneide–; Ugo Rondinone –Esther Schipper–, Maria Teresa Hincapié & José Alejandro Restrepo –Rolf Art–; Cristina Mejías –Alarcón Criado–; Adriana Proganó –3+1 Contemporary Art–; Diana Larrea –Minimum Space–; Pepa Prieto – Space Valverde; Cristina Babiloni – Álvaro Alcázar Gallery–; Marcelo Brodsky –Henrique Faria–; Manolo Gil –José De La Mano–; Fabienne Verdier – Lelong –; Ana Esteve – Luis Adelantado; Caitlin Lonegan – Nächst St. Stephan Rosemarie Schwarzwälder–; Pipo Hernández Rivero – NF/ Nieves Fernández–; Teresa Margolles –Peter Kilchmann–; Orlán –Rociosantacruz–; Andrea Canepa –Rosa Santos–; Evru / Zush –Senda–, and Júlia Santa Olalla –T20–.
