"Juan Muñoz. Everything I see will survive me" at Sala Alcalá 31
bonart madrid - 14/02/23

Sala Alcalá 31 of the Community of Madrid hosts, from February 14 to March 8, Juan Muñoz. Everything I See Will Survive Me, exhibition that brings together some of the most iconic pieces dated between the 90s and 2001, the year of his untimely death.

Next June, it will be seventy years since the birth of one of the most important European artists of the 21st century, which is why Sala Alcalá 31 is dedicating an exhibition that collects, under the curatorship of Manuel Segade and with the collaboration of Juan Muñoz Estate, the artist's most mature stage.

Among all the works that will be on display, Plaza stands out, a piece from the Kunstsammlung K21 Dusseldorf, which has not been seen in Spain since the Reina Sofia Museum dedicated the Monologues and Dialogues exhibition to it at the Palau de Velázquez in 1996. Likewise, the exhibition will feature loans from various collections, both national and international, from museums such as the Stedelijk van Abbe Museum in Eindhoven, the SMAK in Ghent or the Botín Foundation.

Muñoz's career was cut short at the time of his greatest apogee, after the inauguration of his large installation in the Sala de Turbines of the Tate Modern in London. That is why the exhibition at Sala Alcalá 31 takes its name from a quote by the Russian poet Anna Akhmàtova (1889 – 1966) that Muñoz collected in one of the last notes in his notebooks in preparation for the exhibition at the London museum .

This exhibition will continue at the Museu Center d'Art Dos de Maig between June and November 2023. The center directed by Manuel Segade will bring together several installations, sculptures, drawings and paintings from his first decade of career that will be displayed in two floors of the museum to present a still unknown Juan Muñoz.
