The seventh edition of UVNT Art Fair in Madrid will be held at the Official College of Architects in Madrid from February 23 to 26, with a total of 34 participating galleries and with painting as support and the new figuration as movement that will be its protagonists. With the six years of existence of this fair, this exhibition has grown creating a different proposal where the most current art and new languages have found their platform to make themselves known.
According to Sergio Sancho, founder and director of the fair "UVNT is a fair in constant evolution and with a consistent and contemporary art proposal that dares to use new languages that do not understand labels", and adds that "the event aims to generate various spaces for creation and dialogue, positioning itself as a connector for the different agents of the art world".
Sancho also wanted to point out that the fair has confirmed that there was a void for a fair that welcomed artists who are highly valued and sought after in the international market and who did not have an easy place in the Spanish fair circuit. And he names artists like Javi Calleja, Rafa Macarrón or Edgar Plans, and other artists who work in similar languages. According to Sancho "we have helped put in the spotlight since the beginning artists such as Ana Barriga, Maria Pratts, Ela Fidalgo, Filip Custic... This year we present at the fair the work of artists who are sounding very strong in the contemporary scene international, such as Larissa de Jesús, Miju Lee, Magda Kirk,
Francisco Mendes Moreira, Takeru Amano, Theo Mercier, Austyn Taylor, Ornella Pocetti or Erkut, Terliksiz". Sancho commented that since the organization of the fair "we have also committed ourselves to the city by making public art interventions in its streets and places to promote its cultural transformation". It has been calculated that during the six years of UVNT Art Fair's existence, the work of more than 450 artists has been exhibited and more than 50,000 visitors have been counted.
