The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum presents Escenaris de ficción, a solo show by Ana Esteve Reig (Agres, Alicante, 1986) that addresses issues such as identity and its construction, the importance of images in this process and the elements that shape culturally the way of being of people. It is part of the Kora exhibition program, which already has six editions exhibiting the work of young Spanish creators at the museum.

In Fictional Scenes, Esteve Reig reflects on music, the internet, social networks and human relationships through various audiovisual pieces in which his protagonists flow between different identities, aesthetics and realities, in a continuous process of construction. He is interested in the process of shaping one's own identity, starting from an approach to different social groups that allows them to capture their realities with moving images.

Three of the audiovisuals are presented in the exhibition hall on the first floor – The Documentary of Dalila (2016), Double Fiction (2021) and Fancams (2022) – and a series of three videos, made especially for the exhibition, 'exhibits in rooms 19, 20 and 21 of the permanent collection, together with the works of Peter Paul Rubens, Hendrick ter Brugghen and Willem Kalf in which he was inspired.

In Dalila's documentary Esteve Reig analyzes how the body and image are transformed in digital spaces and social networks to offer an artificial vision of people. It uses Virgolini, a supposed famous singer created by the creator Dalila Virgolini to pose in front of the cameras. Between both ideas a documentary that mixes reality and fiction, reflecting how Dalila builds her alter ego and how Virgolini records a video clip of one of her songs, to show the important role that social networks play in the construction of own contemporary identity.

The film specialists or doubles are the protagonists of Doble ficción, a piece where you can see action scenes performed by women. Until recently, in this risky profession it was almost always men who also dubbed the female characters. In this video, the women of Valkiria Stunts, the only female team of stunt specialists in Spain, perform scenes in which the stuntman had been a man, claiming their presence in the film industry.

The third audiovisual is titled Fancams and refers to a type of video that arose with K-pop or Korean pop music recorded by fans during concerts and then shared on social networks. Esteve Reig presents here several young people who meet at weekends to rehearse and record choreographies with their mobile phones which they will later spread on the web.
