Under the name of DUETS, the Forn de la Calç Center for Contemporary Art and Sustainability, with the City Council and the Biblioteca d'Artés and the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Diputació de Barcelona, has presented an exhibition program for the development of community artistic co-creation projects.

Each edition is dedicated to a specific theme, this 2023 will be Identities and each exhibition with different titles will talk about this theme. The final result, once the works are finished, is a common exhibition open to the public that offers different views of the same issue. Each exhibition brings together two different components; on the one hand artists, creators of different disciplines with a professional career and on the other emerging artists, entities, cultural agents, educational centers of Artés.

The first of these projects was inaugurated in La Sala de Cal Sitges d'Artés on January 26. On this occasion Arrels is the result of the individual and collective work of the artist Berni Puig and the Artéria d'Artés Collective. The guest artist, Berni Puig, was trained as an illustrator at the Escola Massana in Barcelona (Catalonia) and engraver at the Centro Internacional de la Estampa Contemporània de Betanzos (Galicia), since 2017 he resides at the cultural and artistic center Convent of Cal Rosal.

On the other hand, the Arteria Collective is made up of people from the municipality linked to art, with the intention of creating a network to develop different artistic disciplines individually and collectively. Rosa Binimelis, Àngel Camacho, Raquel Luis, Maria Llop, Saad Omar, Jessi Padilla, Xavi Pous, Alícia Pradell, Héctor Sagués, Imma Vilà and Òscar Vilarasau Clotet have participated in this exhibition.

The collective Artèria and Berni Puig have worked on the concept of the root under an identity perspective. They wanted to extract colors and textures from the walls of the textile factory in Cal Sitges, a memory of Artés' industrial past that returns in a contemporary plastic format.
