The House of Culture of the Diputació de Girona hosts the Art and Word exhibition that opens on January 10 at 7 p.m. It can be visited until February 10, 2023. Art and Word is an exhibition that looks for the links between visual artists and poets, a journey from the point of view of the visual creator who, with his work, wants to pay tribute to the artist of words, and who travels the way back and forth of the network of union between written language and visual language.
The looks of artists from different generations reveal the poetry of Ausiàs March, Ramon Llull, Joan Oliver, Salvador Espriu, VA Estellés, JV Foix, Maria Mercè Marçal, Felícia Fuster, Carles Hac Mor, Joan Brossa and Àngels Moreno.
As Joan Brossa said when quoting a phrase from Leopoldo Fregoli, "Art is life and life is transformation". And it is this transformation of words into images, and vice versa, that the curators Fina Duran and Jesús Galdón want to show in this exhibition: a small tour through different dual works where the poet and the artist become one.
The artists exhibiting there are Gerard Altaió, Ester Xargay, Josep Guinovart, Amèlia Riera, Francesca Llopis, Jesús Galdón, David Ymbernon, Mar Arza, Jordi Tolosa and Anna Llimós.
This exhibition is held as a previous activity to the Ara Poesia festival. XXVII Girona Poetry Festival, which will take place from February 2 to 25.
