From the 14th to the 18th of December, the third edition of the Cercle Equêstre de Barcelona will be held. This year the club will celebrate it by invitation with the participation of renowned national and international galleries and great experts in the sector.
After the 2020 and 2021 editions, which positioned the event as the reference event for the artistic, cultural and social world of the Catalan capital, more than a thousand works by renowned artists will once again fill the halls of the flagship building of the club.
According to the curator of the exhibition and Vice-President of the Cercle Equêstre, Enric Lacalle By Invitation has become in just three years a point of reference for modern and contemporary art in Barcelona. Having placed the complete poster, not a single gallery more.

23 participating galleries
A total of 23 galleries, more than in any of its previous editions, are participating in this year's edition. With this increase in exhibitor stands, the fair offers a wider range of artistic pieces than in previous years. This artistic event transforms the Equestrian Circle into a gallery with more than a thousand paintings by renowned artists worldwide. Visitors will be able to appreciate the works of renowned artists such as Tàpies, Plensa, Picasso, Miró, Dalí or Barceló, among others, which during these days decorate the walls of the palace built in 1910. As also in the legendary halls of club will exhibit works by successful artists from the contemporary scene. The pieces, mostly lent by the galleries Alzueta Gallery, Art Petritxol Gallery, Carlos Teixidó Gallery, Casa Zóbel Gallery, Cortina Gallery, David Cervelló Gallery, Dolors Junyent Gallery, Imaginart Gallery, Joan Gaspar Gallery, Jorge Alcolea Gallery, Espai Lobo, Fernando Pinós Art Gallery, Lanipsebooks Gallery, Lorenart Gallery, Marc Calzada Gallery, Marlborough Gallery, Marc Domènech Gallery, Mayoral Gallery, Senda Gallery, LAB36, Pigment Gallery, Piramidón Gallery, Contemporary Art Center will be sale at the same location during the days of the event.
For her part, Lourdes Cirlot, emeritus professor at the University of Barcelona and expert in artistic trends of the 20th and 21st centuries, will be the person in charge of conducting the guided tours.
By Invitation wanted to support Mina Hamada's work this year. The Lab 36 and Senda galleries will sell the artist's Passeig Colorit series of sculptures, the profits from their sale will be donated to the Lluita Contra les Infeccións Foundation chaired by Dr. Bonaventura Clotet, as part of the DO GOOD program of La Roca Village and The Bicester Collection.
The Live Painting show will complete this year's By Invitation activities. The emerging artist Carolina Ribera will create her works in front of the attentive gaze of the attendees, who will be able to enjoy the show every day, from 12.00 to 2.00 pm and from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm.

Baroness Thyssen's visit and tribute to Antoni Tàpies
One of the highlights will be the visit of Baroness Thyssen. Carmen Cervera will attend the Cercle Equêstre on December 16, at 5:00 p.m. to lead the Great Collectors dialogue alongside Guillermo Cervera, general curator of the Carmen Thyssen Collection, and Sergio VilaSanjuán, writer and director of the Cultural supplement of The Vanguard
The official opening of the event took place last Wednesday, December 14, at 11.00 am. The inaugural event was attended by the representative of the Spanish Government in Catalonia, Maria Eugènia Gay. Both the Baroness and the representative of the Spanish executive will be received by the By Invitation organizing team.
The artistic program of By Invitation will be complemented with several lectures by experts from the world of art. The first was held on December 14 at 7 p.m. and featured Gemma Avinyó, deputy director of the Sorigué Foundation, Sergio Vila-Sanjuán, writer and director of La Vanguardia's Cultural supplement, and Julio Vaquero, renowned painter. The lecturers discussed the PLANTA Project of the Sorigué Foundation. On December 15, at 6:30 p.m., Cristina López, director of the Macba Foundation; Llucià Homs, cultural consultant and art market analyst, and Teresa Ybarra, director of Bonhams Spain, debated the new formulas of collecting.
It should be remembered that after last year the Cercle Equêstre paid tribute to the Barcelona painter José María Porta Missé, who died in 2021, and the By Invitation 2022 will dedicate another of the great artists of the second half of the 20th century, in this ca , Antoni Tàpies (1923-2012). The artistic event will host great works by the painter, as a tribute to his figure in the city of Barcelona and in the world of painting.
The Cercel Equêstre is a private club that was inaugurated in 1856 and currently has a total of more than 1500 members. In recent years the Circle has promoted initiatives such as the Barcelona Capital Forum and Madrid-Barcelona Cross Agendas.
Visiting hours to the exhibition are from 11:00 to 20:00 on Wednesday, 14 to Saturday, 18 December, and from 11:00 to 15:00 on Sunday, 19 December.
