In its 42nd edition, which will be held from February 22 to 26, 2023, ARCOmadrid will delve again, together with galleries and artists, into the most relevant questions of contemporary art with the aim of continuing to investigate the past, present and future practices, and offering the possibility of deepening the contents. ARCO maintains its close nature, where all the agents that make up the ecosystem of the art world find a unique place, from which to share their knowledge and interests with others.
This edition will be a moment of meeting and discovery and will have the presence of new international galleries that confirm ARCOmadrid's role as a pre-eminent place of visibility for artists, the active market and knowledge around art. It incorporates as a 2023 research topic the Mediterranean: a round sea, which curated by Marina Fokidis, with the advice of Bouchra Khalili, Hila Peleg and Pedro G. Romero, aims to mobilize the relationships that flow from bottom to top and from side to side apart from an effort to reach a meeting point for the shared intensities of this geographical area. The presence of galleries from thirteen countries will make it possible to delve deeper into the works of artists such as Anna Boghiguian –KOW–, Iman Issa –Rodeo–, Jumana Manna –Hollybush Gardens–, Mohamed Bourouissa –Kamel Mennour–, Silvina Der Meguerditchian –Kalfayan Galleries–, Stefania Strouza –A.Antonopoulou.Art–, Laia Estruch –Ehrhardt Flórez– or Hana Miletić –Lambda Lambda Lambda–.
Opening by Allianz, will once again be the space for discovering new proposals at the fair. The selection of Julia Morandeira and Yina Jiménez Suriel will represent the bet of young international gallerism with the participation of galleries such as Constitució, Fòrum.Space, HOA, Pequod Co., The Liminal or Zina.
The Never the Same section. Latin American Art will contribute to strengthening research around Latin American creation and its relationship with all the agents present at the fair. Curated by Mariano Mayer and Manuela Moscoso, it will be made up of a selection of artists from Latin America with galleries such as Jaqueline Martins, Max Mayer, Karen Huber, Crisis and Hache.
These contents will be joined by the Forum, which will expand research around the art of the Mediterranean region with a structure as multifaceted and plural as the artistic practices of the various countries and will bring us closer to the commitment and constant support of collectors from various contexts.
