Fundació MAPFRE will screen the documentary Drei Fotografinnen [Three photographers]: Ilse Bing on 30 November in its auditorium. This pass will be on the occasion of the exhibition of the German artist that can be visited until January 8, at Sala Recoletos, 23. The presentation will be made by Juan Vicente Aliaga, curator of the exhibition.
The documentary contains the interview that Antonia Lerch filmed in 1993 at Bing as part of a project that also included conversations with two other Jewish photographers: Ellen Auerbach and Grete Stern.
Made five years before her death, the film reveals an already very frail Ilse Bing, who moves with difficulty in the narrowness of her modest apartment, but with the ability to vividly evoke her life and his work
Discussing the photographs he pulls from his files, Bing reviews some of the highlights of his biography and his insight into many aspects of photography: the keys to composition, the meaning of vintage prints, his conception of the portrait... An exciting testimony that shows, in short, the deep and serene vitality and creative impulse that place his images among the fundamental works of photography of the first half of the 20th century.
