"My Marine Cemetery" by Quim Corominas at the La Mercè Cultural Center

On October 19 at 6:30 p.m., the inauguration of the new temporary exhibition that refers to the artist's book entitled El meu Cementiri marí by the renowned artist Quim Corominas took place at the La Mercè Cultural Center in Girona. For this exhibition, Corominas has created a new artist's book, which has the shape of an accordion with a total of one hundred edited copies, which are numbered and signed by himself based on works he did in 1995 and a residency at the Atelier DPJ de Seta. As for the location of the cemetery that the artist refers to, it is that of the Occitan town of Seta, which is the place where Paul Valéry was born and which served as a source of inspiration for his poem entitled The marine cemetery It should be remembered that in 1995, Corominas painted three large canvases that he dedicated to Valéry. Quim Corominas was born in 1957 in Sarrià de Ter (Girona), she is a self-taught artist who for many years has combined visual creation with artistic teaching.

His creative work ranges from painting, posters, graphic work and artist books. Corominas has exhibited all over Girona, Barcelona, Spain, London, Berlin, Amsterdam and different cities in France and Italy. Some of his paintings are represented in various collections and museums in Europe. He currently lives and works in the city of Girona.
