The Documentation Center and Textile Museum presents the temporary exhibition Forcano Moda, Trets de moda under the brilliant gaze of Eugeni Forcano. This exhibition includes a selection of 40 photographs that Forcano made for the world of fashion. They are shots of great vitality and of a staging a surreal point. The genius of Forcano's look idealizes and shapes fashion masterfully, not only photographing the product, but also providing a social reading of the environment in which it was created.
On the occasion of this exhibition, a 48-page catalog is published that includes all the photographs on display, an introduction and chronobiography of the photographer and the text "Forcano Moda" written by Manuel Outumuro.
Manuel Outumuro, Josep Maria Forcano and Josep Guindo are the curators of this exhibition which opens on the second floor of the Museum. Parallel to the exhibition, a series of activities have been scheduled such as the official opening of the exhibition on October 16 at 12:00 noon and the guided visit to the exhibition.
Forcano, great master of 20th century photography
Eugeni Forcano is one of the great masters of 20th century photography in our country. It should be remembered that his career has been awarded with a number of recognitions: City of Barcelona Award for black and white photography (1963) and color (1976), Artist FIAP (International Federation of Photographic Art) (Berne, 1978), until to reach the Creu de Sant Jordi of the Generalitat de Catalunya (2012) and the National Photography Award of the Ministry of Culture (2012).
At the beginning of the sixties, Forcano is already a recognized photographer with an impeccable track record, receiving the first commissions from the world of fashion and the textile industry. In 1963 he began his collaboration with the magazine Nueva Línea, published by the Guild of the Textile and Tailoring Industry. In 1964, he joined the Don magazine, specialized in men's fashion and published by the textile industrialists of Sabadell.
Many were the textile entities that knocked on the door of the photographer's studio: Pulligan, Lycra, Sampons, Belcor, Dupont, etc. and thus the facet of fashion photographer that Forcano had started in the publications of the sector was consolidated. The great success of Forcano's photographic work for fashion has been to stay true to his way of photographing. Session after session, all commissioned, he managed to ensure that his photographs maintained the unmistakable stamp, which reaffirmed the identity of his work.
Of all these collaborations, perhaps the most successful pair was the one established with Tilsa (Textil Industrial Leonesa, SA) in 1968. This exhibition can be visited until December 31, 2022 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 :00-14:00 hours and 16:00-19:00 hours, Fridays from 10:00-14:00 hours and Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00 hours.
