"Justas and Pellejas" by Provi Casals

From 3 to 31 October 2022 you can visit the new temporary exhibition in the Exhibition Hall of the Chamber of Urban Property of Girona Justas and Pellejas by Provi Casals (Caldes de Malavella, 1963). This exhibition, which has been organized by the Atrium Artis Foundation and the Chamber of Urban Property of Girona, is a small tribute to the women of the high Leonese plateau as Casals goes into the world of these women, rethinking the his body with soft sculptures made with fabrics and skins.

On the one hand, Las justas are the women who stayed at home to take care of the children, they were not mistresses of their lives, among other reasons, because many of them totally ignored that there was anything other than what they knew. On the other hand Las pellejas are the women who served in the taverns, women who were in direct contact with men and this gave them at least the right to listen and know more about the world.

Provi Casals is an artist and ceramist who trained at Escola Massana in Barcelona, and later perfected his studies at Pau Gargallo in Badalona. She currently takes courses in raku, Japanese ceramics, glazes, turning, etc... And since 1999 she has been a ceramics teacher at the Municipal Art School of Girona.

He has held individual and group exhibitions in different places such as Barcelona, Girona, Arbúcies, Caldes de Malavella, La Bisbal d'Empordà, etc... Visiting hours to the exhibition are from Monday to Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 20:00 in the evening and Saturday mornings.
