bonart girona - 10/10/22

From September 22 you can visit the temporary exhibition of Catalina Salazar (Barcelona, 1966) Aurora at the La Mercè Cultural Center in Girona, an exhibition coordinated by Manel Bayo and organized by the Municipal School of Art.

In this exhibition, Salazar presents an artistic project based on the pictorial interpretation of the landscape descriptions in the book Paradisos océànics by Aurora Bertrana and Salazar. Colors, smells, sounds and emotions described by the author during her stay in the Pacific islands from 1926 to 1929. The paintings presented in this exhibition are made with mixed media, mostly acrylic paint and wax cold, on canvas or wood. Catalina Salazar studied Prehistory and Ancient History at the University of Barcelona, although her interest in painting led her to undertake several trainings that consolidated her technical knowledge in the field, such as the Diploma in Restoration and Appraisal of Works of Art (IECCA), drawing and color seminars at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona, etc... In 1982 he moved to Empordà, where the natural environment will determine the development of his work. Salazar has been exhibiting since 1997 until the present day.

On the other hand, until November 11, Tura Sanglas exhibits the exhibition entitled Eight Serps, which is a collection of the work process from the first sketches to the final result of this engraving project carried out by the artist with the advice and help from the engraver Sebi Subirós of Luspusgràfic Edicions Projecte, made thanks to the contemporary engraving residency grant from Bòlit and the EMA.

The Eight Serps project consisted of the production of a series of 3 etchings and the research and application of the Japanese woodcut technique of adding mica powder to the prints (shiro-kirazuri). The exhibition is entitled Eight Serps and more because to the eight snakes that appear in the three engravings of the project, a small collection of works is added, many of which are representations of snakes or evoke them in aspects that resonate with the 'soul of this animal.
