The Hospital Universitari de Girona Doctor Josep Trueta will host until December 3 the exhibition CurArt , by the photographer Tino Soriano, a photographic report made during the last four decades and which aims to pay tribute to the professionals in the world of medicine and healthcare. The exhibition, under the curatorship of art critic Ricard Planas Camps, will be exhibited in various areas of the Hospital, mainly on the ground floor and in the lobby of the assembly hall, and has been made with the collaboration and co-production of the Lluís Coromina Foundation, DKV and Bonart Cultural. Previously, CURART could be seen in Zaragoza, at the DKV headquarters, and also toured Vic as part of the events of the Revela't photojournalism Festival. Yesterday's opening ceremony was attended by the Hospital's top managers and began and concluded with a piano recital by Paco Viciana, Soriano's friend and with whom he has collaborated several times. The Maria Canals competition piano installed in the entrance hall of the hospital center was the perfect excuse to combine visual and sound arts.
The exhibition, which highlights the art of healing, and gives visibility to the effort and perseverance of professionals in the healthcare world, is also a portrait of the experiences and situations in various areas of medicine, such as the visits home care, the work of rural doctors, emergency services, and many other facets that are often invisible. Begun forty years ago at the Barcelona Mental Institute and completed during the Covid health crisis, Soriano's exhibition collects images from various moments in some of the country's health spaces, and makes visible situations such as births, deaths or surgical operations, as well as the use of new technologies or the treatment of patients with serious illnesses, among others. "Healing is an art and so is taking care of health", explains Soriano, who with this exhibition wanted to pay tribute and thank the entire group of healthcare professionals in the country.
Among the photographs included, there is one that was taken at the Trueta in 2020 with professionals who cared for patients with Covid. In the CurArt book, you can also see a photograph taken at the Orpea residence, with professionals from the Can Gibert del Pla Primary Care Team.
