Dart, a pioneer event in programming documentaries on contemporary art in Spain, celebrates its 6th edition from November 24 to December 11. Since its first edition, Dart has established itself as a meeting point between cinema and contemporary art. Its programming delves into the biographies and creations of artists essential to understanding Spanish and international art of our time. The contest presents cinematographic novelties that include stories from the avant-gardes of the early 20th century to the present day, and highlights the breadth of disciplines and ways of making art, in addition to the multiple functions that art fulfills in our society
In this edition, the festival will combine face-to-face sessions at Sala Phenomena, Cinemes Girona and MACBA in Barcelona, from November 24 to 30, with a special selection of online documentaries on the Filmin platform. The Dart channel on Filmin will be available from November 24th to December 11th.
The festival will open on November 24 with a documentary by the director Miquel Romans about the project of the artist Ignasi Aballí for the Spain Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2022. Correction. Ignasi Aballí is a project curated by Bea Espejo, a deep connoisseur of the artist's work.

“Art Lovers Unite!” , by Patrick J. Thomas (Germany, 2022)
Vivienne Westwood, one of the most important fashion designers in the world, walks the corridors of the Gemaeldegalerie art gallery in Berlin, accompanied by the artist Dacob, while addressing various topics related to art, its history over time and the relationship with fashion, while revealing the secrets of the well-known masterpieces of Caravaggio, Raphael, Velazquez, Titian and Rembrandt, among others. "Correction. Ignasi Aballí” , by Miquel Romans (Spain, 2022)
Documentary about the project of the artist Ignasi Aballí for the Spanish Pavilion of the Venice Biennale 2022. "Corrección" is a project curated by Bea Espejo, a great connoisseur of the artist's work. The premiere at the Dart will coincide with the closing week of the Biennale, which will close on November 27.
"J'ai retrouvé Christian B" , by Alain Fleischer (France, 2020)
The trajectory of one of the geniuses of our time, the French artist Christian Boltanski, in a documentary project by the acclaimed director Alain Fleischer. The long friendship between the director and the protagonist, which spanned half a century, makes this the definitive documentary about Boltanski, who died in 2021.
"The Art of Escape. Conversations and Walks with Isidoro Valcárcel Medina” , by Manuel Padín and Claudio Hontana (Spain, 2022)
Isidoro Valcárcel Medina is one of the most important living artists in recent Spanish art history. This unpublished short film gives voice to the artist from Murcia, who perseveres, even today, in his undisciplined artistic practice.
“Unseen Skies”, by Yaara Bou Melhem (USA, 2021)
Trevor Paglen is an artist and activist known for his projects on artificial intelligence and global mass surveillance. In this documentary, Paglen presents the most audacious project of his career. "Orbital Reflector", which consists of putting a satellite into orbit from the Nevada desert, highlighting the invisible surveillance structures that populate Earth's orbit.
“Wangechi Mutu: Between the Earth and the Sky” , Ian Forster and Jackie Lebo (USA, 2021)
A short film that goes into the studio of Wangechi Mutu, a Kenyan artist based in New York, whose work fuses themes such as gender, race, sexuality, ecology and power.
"The Woman of Bauhaus" , by Susanne Radelhof (Germany, 2019)
There were almost 500 women artists who studied and taught at the Bauhaus school, but their names have been in the shadows for many years. This documentary is a tribute to artists such as Alma Buscher, Marianne Brandt, Gunta Stölzl, Friedl Dicker and Lucia Moholy, among many others.
"Lucian Freud: A Self Portrait" , by David Bickerstaff (England, 2020)
The documentary narrates the career of the British painter Lucian Freud, taking his famous self-portraits as a starting point. Considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century, this 2022 marks the 100th anniversary of his birth.
