bonart barcelona - 08/09/22

The open process to fill the position of Director/VAT of Conservation and Research of the Contemporary Art Museum of Barcelona has been resolved with the election of María Berríos (Santiago de Chile, 1978). With a degree in Sociology and a master's degree in Latin American Cultural Studies from the University of Chile, she also completed doctoral studies in Sociology at Goldsmiths University in London. Her work as a researcher, curator and member of artistic collectives explores issues that cross art, architecture, culture and politics, with a special interest in collective experiments of cultural solidarity in the Global South - particularly in Latin America – and its exhibition formats in the 1960s and 1970s. Under the direction of the director and in accordance with the museum's discursive and research lines, it will have as its mission to accompany and elaborate jointly and transversally with the museum team the contents of Exhibitions, Public Programs, Education, Collection, Publications, Archive and Library.

Regarding the addition of Berríos to the museum's team, the evaluation committee highlights "his global professional experience in the world of art for more than twenty years; the solvency of his academic training, as well as his versatility of her professional profile, as curator of exhibitions, editor, educator and participant in research and artistic collaboration projects."
