Inauguration of the 22nd edition of FITAG at the Municipal Theater of Girona

On August 23, the 22nd edition of the Girona Amateur Theater Festival (FITAG) was inaugurated with the performance of the theater show El Mirall de Blanes at 7:00 pm at the Municipal Theater of Girona.

Jordi Camps and Vicente from the Provincial Council of Girona and current mayor of Vidreres, Joaquim Ayats, vice-mayor of Girona and Martí Peraferrer i Vayreda, director of Fitag, were present at the inauguration ceremony.

In the words of Peraferrer "with this festival we propose a vital theatrical experience of five intense days, in an ideal and friendly city such as Girona, where all the cultural and theatrical facilities open their doors to give life to the large and willing agora of lovers of the theatre, those who make it and those who watch it, and thus becomes a meeting point full of unforgettable experiences for everyone who approaches FITAG-Girona". The director of Fitag also wanted to point out that "we are proud to have brought this popular and grassroots theatrical event to play in the first world division of international festivals of its category. And that despite these years of pandemic, the festival once again shines with splendor, filling theaters, generating new opportunities for friendship and collaboration, and providing educational experiences and human enrichment within our collective".

Regarding the issue of FITAG in the municipalities, this year the festival will take place in the municipalities of Sant Pere Pescador (24 August), Sant Gregori (24 August), Llançà (25 August), Vidreres (25 of August), Maçanet de la Selva (August 26) and Lloret de Mar (August 26).

The theater companies performing this year at FITAG 2022 come from Catalonia, Colombia, Argentina, Lima, Donostia-San Sebastià, Kyiv (Ukraine), Zaragoza, Puebla (Mexico), Langreo (Asturias), Barcelos (Portugal) and Carranque ( Castile-La Mancha).

The festival will last until August 27 and a total of 29 participating groups will perform throughout the six municipalities of the province of Girona.
