Until August 15th you can visit the temporary exhibition of photography by the Japanese Hisao Suzuki (Yamagata, Japan, 1957) Shadows and light at the Museu de la Garroxa d'Olot in Sala Oberta 2.
Suzuki presents this exhibition with the help of the RCR BUNKA Foundation, which is a collection of photographs of international architecture representative of the work he has been doing since the 80s.
This exhibition presents the donation that Hisao Suzuki has made to all his funds to the RCR Bunka Foundation. This fund contains a total of 46,000 photographs of contemporary architecture from around the world, portraits of architects and musical composers. The fund also has the photographic films and the original digital files of the images. It is currently considered the most important photographic archive of contemporary architecture of the last 30 years in the world.
It must be said that Suzuki's link with Catalonia began in 1978, after seeing an exhibition of photographs about Antoni Gaudí in Yokohama (Japan) that captivated him. Four years later he arrived for the first time in Barcelona, a city where he stayed to live. In this pre-Olympic Barcelona, Hisao Susuki begins his career as an architectural photographer. The documentation on the construction process of the Palau de Sant Jordi, and his works on Catalan modernism are his.
On the other hand, the Museu de la Garrotxa scheduled a series of free activities open to everyone such as conferences, guided tours for the month of July.
Visiting hours to the exhibition are weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and public holidays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is closed on Mondays.
