The next edition of the Argentona International Ceramics Fair, Fira Argilà, will be held as usual at the Bernat de Riudemeia school and workshops and educational activities will be held in Plaça de l'Església, a few meters from the fair.

A total of 60 ceramists who have been selected will participate in the Fair. Most of them come mostly from Catalonia and the rest of Spain, but there will also be representatives from France, Morocco, Italy, Germany, Slovenia, Poland and Ecuador. According to sources in the organization, "some of the participants in previous editions of the pandemic are returning this year, now that it seems that normalcy is returning to cultural and trade fair activities."

The fair will have France as a guest country, with a representation of a dozen participants, who will be located in an exclusive space within the fairgrounds of the Bernat de Riudemeia school. In addition, 17 French artists will be the protagonists of the exhibition that will take place at the Museu del Càntir, entitled Contemporary French Ceramics. Artists from the Viviane S collection .

As for the Cineràmica 2022 film exhibition, this year it will be dedicated to the French artists present at the exhibition, as well as a lecture by one of the most outstanding, the ceramist Jean Girel.

The fair will start on Friday 1 July at 17:00 pm and will last until 10:00 pm. On Saturday and Sunday the hours will be from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, with a stop for lunch and rest from 14:00 to 17:00.

Educational activities will take place in Plaça de l'Església, with demonstrations of traditional pottery on turn, shift workshops for the little ones, while adults will be able to take part in the “rakú” pottery workshop on Saturday evening. .

For their part, the collector and Stéphanie Le Follic-Hadida, curator of the exhibition, who will also be there, will star in the debate of the first day, while the second will be with a film dedicated to the artist Jean Girel , also present.

The fair will close on Sunday evening with a mud walk.

Other parallel activities that are planned during the course of the fair are the guided tours of the museum by art critic Pere Pascual and the musical performances by the association Musicargentona.

In addition, the 2022 jug, the work of the architect and designer Carme Pinós, will also be available at the fairgrounds and at the museum, and will be presented to the public and the press on June 20 at the museum.

The organizers wanted to point out that "as a whole, the fair has a very powerful and high-level artistic program, reinforced by the presence in the museum's exhibition of some of the best contemporary ceramicists in France" and noted that "L The organization is convinced that this year will be one of consolidation and full normalization after the halt of 2020 and the good resumption of 2021. In addition, during and after the pandemic there has been great interest from the public for ceramics, as evidenced by the fact that the Argentona ceramics workshop school has been in employment for a maximum of two years, with a waiting list of more than 90 people, when its capacity is 85 adult students ”.
