The 30th edition of the Schubertíada will present a total of 23 concerts this year: 19 in Vilabertran, one in Castelló d'Empúries and 3 in the morning in Vilajuïga with the presence of great teachers and young talents.
In this year's edition, the Schubertíada claims its pioneering character and is proud to have contributed to schooling and, decisively, to making poetic song an essential part of the country's musical life.
Today, the Schubertíada vindicates values such as tradition, rigor and excellence. This is reflected in both the artistic proposal and the audience, who value year after year the intensity and quality of the musical proposals, as well as the relaxed and family atmosphere that is experienced during the celebration of the festival.
The concentrated presence in just over ten days of great masters such as Matthias Goerne, Christoph Prégardien, André Schuen, Marlis Petersen, Julie Fuchs, Johannes Martin Kränzle, Juliane Banse, Julia Kleiter, Wolfram Rieger, Julius Drake, Malcolm Martineau, Daniel Heide and Francisco Poyato, combined with that of young talents such as Konstantin Krimmel, Manuel Walser, Catriona Morison, Ema Nikolovska, Johanna Wallroth, Roger Padullés, Ammiel Bushakevitz and Akemi Murakami, are a real milestone for connoisseurs of poetic song, virtually impossible to find so concentrated on other festivals in Europe.
Great repertoire and promotion of young talent
According to sources in the organization, "the variety of repertoire proposed this year by the Schubertíada is of great richness, diversity and balance." In the instrumental field, we should highlight three great piano sonatas by Mozart, which are becoming increasingly difficult to hear in recitals; the first integral of Bach's sonatas and violin matches with Catalan violinists; The art of Bach's fugue in string quartet formation; and a tribute to the great Russian composer Aleksandr Skriabin, a great innovator of European pianism, combined with masterpieces by Frederic Chopin.
On the side of the poetic song we find a wide presence of Schubert but also of Wolf, Schumann, Garreta, Toldrà, Serra, Strauss, Grondahl, Fauré, Poulenc, Korngold, Mahler, Brahms, Klein and a reinforced presence of dances and lieder of Carl Loewe.
It should also be noted that on August 21, the commemoration of the 30th edition will be held with favorite artists and repertoire of Jordi Roch, founder of the Schubertíada. The double evening will feature soprano Julie Fuchs, mezzo Ema Nikolovska and baritone Matthias Goerne, as well as pianists Daniel Heide, Wolfram Rieger and Alexander Schmalcz.
