The Cloister Art Gallery presents on April 8 at 8 p.m. the collective exhibition of the renowned Bilbao artist Alejandro Quincoces (Bilbao, 1951).
In this exhibition, Quincoces presents his series of oil landscapes of different formats (85 x 85 cm, 60 x 60 cm, 60 x 120 cm, 121 x 60 cm, etc.) in which he reproduces the great cities of the world as they are New York, Chicago, London. Some of his paintings can be seen from snowy cityscapes, the nights of New York City, the industrial areas of big cities, the East River area of New York, bridges, etc.
The main aim of the painter is to involve the viewer in a recognizable image of feelings and expressions in which, at times, the artist hints at a message about thoughts in the face of the relative of time, of the course of life. of inevitable social involvement. His latest topics include issues in the media: ecological and nuclear disasters (Fukushima), fires, and so on. But also figures and portraits, themes that cover the human experience that touch on the intimate and close or that which belongs to the whole of society as a responsible group. In his work we can see how Quincoces does not use color much in search of his suggestions rather than purities and his belief in the mixed rather than the pure, in destruction rather than in the construction of the form to transfer. to the spectator the work of participating in the recomposition of the reality seen and felt by him.
Quincoces, has been drawing and painting since childhood. He later combined his training as a painter with working in various advertising agencies.
