The new edition of the series Temporals of traveling art exhibitions in the civic centers of Barcelona opens a call. Proposals can be submitted until April 29 to be part of the second edition of the project, which will take place throughout 2023.
Temporals was born with the aim of creating actions, activities and experiences that dialogue with the territory closest to the cultural center and turn authors, managers, facilities, associations and citizens into active cultural agents. This cycle is a paradigmatic example of the Cultural Rights Plan promoted by Barcelona City Council, to democratize access to culture and cultural production. Launched last year in a pilot format, this new program turns civic centers into mediators between contemporary art and citizenship, spaces where barriers are broken and new forms of presentation accessible to all are adopted.
This year the Temporals cycle has 10 traveling exhibitions that are being held in 13 civic centers in nine districts of the city. The current call for projects is aimed at artists, social agents, people linked to cultural management, creation, communication and local creation (Barcelona and its area of influence) to be part of the 2023 edition.
The proposals presented can be both artists or groups and curators, and be framed within any of the current visual arts trends: video arts, visual arts, photography, digital practices, performance, etc. Projects that raise issues related to current events and allow the development of contemporary lines of thought or that establish links between different types of knowledge will be valued.
It should be borne in mind that the projects candidates to be part of Temporals must be designed to involve the community closest to the civic center in order to encourage the interaction of diverse audiences with local artistic experiences.
