They present the new exhibition program of the Museu Picasso in Barcelona

The exhibition program of the Museu Picasso de Barcelona was presented today at 11.30 am in the Museum's Assembly Hall by Emmanuel Guigon, director of the Museu Picasso, who was accompanied by Reyes Jiménez, head of the Restoration Department. and preventive conservation, Elena Llorens, Curator of the collection and Sílvia Domènech, head of the Center for Knowledge and Research.

The director of the Picasso Museum, Emmanuel Guigon, has explained that at the beginning of April Picasso will present the blue project , an exhibition in which the scientific studies of the works of the blue period of the collection duts are highlighted. carried out by the Museum's Restoration and Conservation Department in collaboration with other museum institutions and universities. This exhibition will have a parallel one in Madrid with The Formation of the Young Picasso, in which scientific studies will also be presented, this time focusing on the artist's training works.

Guigon also said that the museum will open in the summer with two exhibitions linked to the important archives: Brigitte Baer. Picasso and the Engravings , dedicated to the work of the author, author of Picasso's reasoned catalog of engravings, whose archives they own; and Lucien Clergue. Meetings with Picasso, with almost 600 photographs of Picasso's great friend and photographer, which will allow the public to present unpublished aspects of the artist's life.

On the other hand, in the autumn the Museum will start it with a contemporary art project, Barthélémy Toguo . Toguo, in residence at the Museum, will be immersed in the Picasso universe and create works that emerge from the dialogue with the master. The art project will be enriched with a social project that shows the Museum's desire and ability to meet contemporary social challenges through a more inclusive policy.

Finally, the year will end with an exceptional heritage exhibition dedicated to the gallery owner, friend and biographer of Picasso, Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler. The exhibition is possible thanks to an exceptional loan from the Center Pompidou in Paris and several loans from private collections in Catalonia. The Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler exhibition shows the importance of the gallery in the world of art at an international level and explores the important link he maintained with the city of Barcelona.

The Picasso Museum will also plan and organize events of international scope to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso in 2023 with the exhibition on Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler. In the autumn of the same year, Picasso-Miró will be screened, in co-production with the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona.

According to Guigon, “the year 2023 therefore presents itself as an unbeatable opportunity to complete the transformation of the Museum: we have a solid educational and social project, a program of activities rooted in the territory and alliances with various institutions and universities to generate value projects ”.

He also explained that this year the Picasso Museum will continue with the programming of the Picasso Doctorate, the public higher education program carried out in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Picardy, Jules Verne (Amiens) which has the support of the Banco Sabadell Foundation.
