The Palau Solterra Museum presents, from January 29 to May 1, the exhibition Life vest under your seat by the photographer Jean Marie del Moral (Montoire, France, 1952). The photographer has a humanistic view of the world. Look with the same interest and photograph with the same respect any situation, object or person that is put in front of the target. Del Moral's relationship with what he portrays - renowned artists or anonymous characters, landscapes of all kinds or more or less unusual street situations - is serene and intense. It is the same relationship that he proposes that the public has with his photos, which do not impose themselves on the eyes but invite them to look, without stridency or effects.

From his beginnings as a photojournalist in the legendary French communist newspaper L'Humanité, Del Moral's career has lasted for almost half a century and has resulted in a rich and varied work. The richness and variety of Del Moral's work are the result of the richness and variety of his life, marked by three factors: his status as the son of exiled Spanish Republicans and his dual Spanish-French identity; the discovery, at a very young age, of art, a passion that has always accompanied him and that has been one of the engines of his work; and, finally, nomadism, which has led him to cover a large part of the planet, from the two Americas to Russia and Africa, passing through China and the entire European continent.

The exhibition Life vest under your seat, curated by Pere Antoni Pons, presents a synthetic but representative sample of Del Moral's vast work. It focuses on four areas: work on artists and workshops: Miró, Barceló and Fenosa, among many others; the half-century panorama of a diverse and changing planet; portraits of both anonymous and well-known characters; and forays into the realms of more experimental (in) formalism. These are photos that always look for beauty and meaning.
