The Design Hub Barcelona, home of the Design Museum, the Barcelona Center for Design (BcD), the Promotion of Arts and Design (FAD), the Association for the Study of Furniture (AEM), Art Directors Club of Europe (ADCE), of the El Clot - Josep Benet Library and of the international network World Design Weeks since 2020, will offer a program during the year 2022 that responds to its role as a reference space for the in value and the projection of the creative industries, the dissemination of the city's heritage and culture on a global scale.

The exhibition organized by the Fornas Design Museum will arrive in the spring. The image of Catalonia in the 60's, which will offer a journey through the career of designer Jordi Fornas. With an extensive sample of his work, the exhibition curated by Pau Llop will take us to the Catalonia of the 60s, a time of change and modernity that is present in the modern and avant-garde design of Fornas.

From June 2, the Design Museum will present Transgressions. Contemporary ceramics, an exhibition curated by Isabel Fernández del Moral, curator of the Museum, which presents the new acquisitions of the contemporary ceramics collection, which currently has more than a thousand objects and two hundred -thirty different authors, including Llorens Artigas, Picasso and Miró. This new exhibition will show the latest creations in artistic ceramics, highlighting the "transgressions", both material and technical and conceptual that are taking place in this discipline, as well as the applications of ceramics in the world of design and 'architecture.

Also from June, you can see The best design of the year, the annual exhibition organized by the FAD in collaboration with the Design Museum, which includes the finalists and winners of the awards of the different disciplines of the design and architecture organized by the FAD associations: the FAD Awards for Architecture and Interior Design and the Habitat for students of architecture and design; the ADG Laus Awards for Graphic Design and Visual Communication, and the ADI Awards for Industrial Design and Design Culture. As a main novelty this year, the exhibition will feature different cross-cutting itineraries, related to the principles promoted by the New European Bauhaus: inclusiveness, sustainability and beauty, as well as a focus on new technologies and innovative materials.

As usual, in the autumn, jewelery will once again be the protagonist in the Design Museum. From September, the exhibition Enric Majoral, jeweler, curated by Maia Creus and organized by the Design Museum in collaboration with the A-FAD, will show how the jeweler's close relationship with Formentera has marked the his creations, which he defines as “the essence of Formentera”.

On the other hand, and also in September, there will be a new edition of Enjoia't, the exhibition of selected pieces from the Enjoia't Contemporary Jewelry Awards, organized by the Association of Artists and Craftsmen of the FAD (A-FAD) and which each year awards the most outstanding contemporary creations in the jewelry sector, as well as the Fira JOYA Barcelona Art Jewelery & Objects, an international meeting point for the contemporary art jewelry sector.

One of the highlights of the Design Hub's exhibition program, which will arrive in the autumn of 2022, will be the exhibition dedicated to Steve McCurry, one of the most established contemporary photographers and a reference for the new generations. The exhibition, organized by Sold Out, will be one of the most complete retrospectives of the American artist and will include some of his most iconic large-format images, such as the legendary portrait of the Afghan girl Sharbat Gula. in 1984 and was featured on the cover of National Geographic magazine. Conceived as a journey through McCurry's world, the show will invite the viewer to explore the human landscape of different ethnicities, ages and cultures, from Afghanistan, India, Southeast Asia to Africa. , to Cuba, the United States, Brazil or Italy.

From October 7 you can see Let's play wood! Design, wood and sustainability, an exhibition organized by the Design Museum that focuses on wood as a key material in the service of human cultural evolution. The exhibition presents a broad historical view focusing on wooden objects that over time have meant a turning point in human life until the 21st century, but also devotes a large area to the current applications of the wood for the sustainability of the planet and as the foundation of the circular bioeconomy. The exhibition is curated by Martí Boada and Pilar Vélez and is part of the program of the annual conference of the European Forest Institute, which has designated Barcelona the European Capital of Forest 2022.

Parallel to the exhibition, conferences, seminars and family workshops have been organized. In addition to this program, during 2022 you can still see some of the current exhibitions, such as the large exhibition “BANKSY. The Art of Protest ”which will be at the Design Hub until March 13, or the permanent objects of the Museum of Design Common Objects.
