The Governing Council of the Arts in Education Forum has been set up

The Governing Council of the Arts in Education Forum was formed on 13 January. The meeting, promoted by the CoNCA, convened about thirty people representing the Department of Education, the Department of Culture and the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya, as well as representatives of the four Catalan provincial councils, the City Council of Barcelona, the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia (FMC), the Catalan Association of Municipalities (ACM), the Catalan Coordinator of Foundations, the Jaume Bofill Foundation and the Interarts Foundation.

After a first welcome speech and the constitution of the Council by Vinyet Panyella, president of the CoNCA, the project of the Forum and the corresponding work plan of the Governing Council were discussed, presented by Jordi Font and Núria Iceta, secretary and member respectively of the National Council of Culture and the Arts (CoNCA).

The members of the Governing Council agreed with the objectives of the Forum and in what should be the beginning of a process that will have the complicity and commitment between the different administrations and between the fields of culture and culture. education. In addition, the meeting laid the foundations for the lines of work that will be carried out from now until April, when the Forum will take place, and it was also agreed to monitor the agreements and actions. that are adopted a posteriori.

The Forum of the Arts in Education wants to promote a greater presence of the arts as a language and as a transversal competence in compulsory education in the light of the most innovative experiences existing both in Catalonia and in Europe as a whole. With this, the CoNCA wants to promote the conditions that guarantee the universal right of access to culture and the arts, which must lead to an increase in audiences and an increase in culturally active citizenship. The arts are, on the other hand, a central element in the integral education of the person, in the development of his cognitive, emotional and relational abilities, with remarkable effects on the self-esteem, the recognition of the other, the inclusion of diversity, teamwork and emotion management.

Within the framework of the Forum, a first version of the Cartography of the Arts in Education in Catalonia will also be presented, a map under construction that aims to bring out the existing initiatives in schools and institutes in the infant, primary and compulsory secondary education, while fostering the relationship and exchange between the centers.
