On January 8, it opened its doors A cobert, a space for critical thinking and artistic creation in the rural environment, a space for introspection, debate, creation and reception, a space where you can protect yourself from systemic violence and where look for answers, and also more questions, about what happens in the outside world.
Under cover - and away from the immediacy and outside noise - it offers contemporary art, critical debate and new currents of thought in a rural setting. Given the immediacy of the cities, the oversaturation of proposals and the lack of experimental art in rural areas. The project will be firmly integrated with the territory, for this reason entities, associations, businesses and neighbors will be involved in this integration process.
The new space, directed by the artist and poet Nerea Campo, has the active support of the vanderpla design studio - located on the second floor of the same building - which is in charge of the visual identity of the project, and the support of the 'Eudald Van der Pla, artist and curator of the Ex Abrupto contemporary creation festival.
As A Cobert explains, "While other projects, a reference for us, have done a lot of work to bring the most experimental art to the rural environment, Cobert also wants to mark a clear ideological line and In the face of the climate emergency and the endemic disease of alcohol, we declare ourselves a free space for the consumption of animal meat, alcohol and drugs, we respect and do not judge the freedom of each individual but we want to create an environment for and for art, without distorting elements We believe that these premises are markedly revolutionary We must make special reference to the preparation of a strong protocol against sexist and LGBT-phobic attitudes as we strongly condemn these behaviors that have no place in our project. As the last ideological postulates, we claim the professionalism of the artist, and therefore we reward his work, and we integrate the territory and the nature that surrounds us in our project in a coherent, ethical and respectful way. a ".
It has three indoor spaces: a large room for training - workshops, courses and talks - and events; a small exhibition hall and a covered garden for reading or meditating. Indoor is a space to leave out the worries and uncertainties of the world around us and come to learn, create, talk, read and have a tea, listen to a poetry recital with the rain in the background or taste a vegan cake after 'a training, among many other things.
The project was inaugurated with a poetry recital by Francesc Cañas, a poet from Moià, and Àngels Moreno, Maria Mercè Marçal Prize for Poetry in 2017, both of whom will jointly present their latest publications: Ad Absurdum (Tremendous Editions) and L'Agulla (Farmers Publishers).
