The Mas Miró Foundation has been nominated for the European Museum of the Year 2022 award organized by the European Museums Forum, a body associated with the European Council. This is the most prestigious and long-lasting award given to European museums.

The European Museum of the Year Award recognizes excellence in the European museum scene, while encouraging and promoting innovative processes on the international museum scene. Its jury values aspects such as the relationship with the public, imaginative presentations and the creative approach oriented towards education and social responsibility.

Nominating for this award is a recognition of the Mas Miró Foundation for its work in disseminating Joan Miró's work and the artist's intimate relationship with Mont-roig del Camp, the natural landscape and Catalan rural culture. .

The results of the awards will be announced in the city of Tartu, Estonia, in May 2022. Of the 59 nominated museums across Europe, Mas Miró is the only nominee in Catalonia, along with three other museums. of the state: the Museum of Contemporary Art Helga d'Alvear in Cáceres, the Museum of Footwear and the Inca Industry and the Museum Casa Botines Gaudí de León.

Mas Miró in Mont-roig del Camp opened its doors on April 20, 2018, coinciding with the 125th anniversary of Joan Miró's birth.
