The World Crafts Council evaluates the Bisbal d'Empordà to become a 'Craft City'

The Local Promotion and Development Area of La Bisbal City Council submitted the application to the World Crafts Council Europe ( WCC ) to become an internationally recognized artisan city. The petition was examined and last week, on October 21 and 22, the municipality was visited by a entourage of craft experts who will also determine the final decision of the WCC steering committee. If the application is approved, La Bisbal would become the first city in the country to obtain the badge.

The visit began with an explanation by the municipal technical team about the reasons why La Bisbal wants to become a ' Craft City'. There was a visit to the Terracotta Museum and a meeting with the Association of Ceramists of La Bisbal. It also included visits to various workshops, to the Bisbal School of Ceramics, a creative ceramics workshop and a walk along Carrer de l'Aigüeta. All the meals that were made during both days in Bisbal restaurants were served with crockery of the brand "Ceràmica de la Bisbal".

WCC Europe promotes handicrafts and the arts characterized by its design throughout Europe.
